- The advantage of Nadi Bay as a research field are:
Fairly easy access to/from foreign countries;
Nadi as the hub of domestic traffic within Viti Levu and nearby island groups;
Diversity in the potential research agenda, including marine biodiversity, traditional community, current lifestyle, land tenure, eco-tourism, among others;
USP research project on Marine Protected Area focusing on Malolo Lailai.
- On the other hand, possible problems include influence of commercial tourism in the area which extends also to traditional community.
- Most relevant research agenda for Nadi Bay would be eco-tourism. The Nadi Bay area is expected to grow rapidly reflecting active tourism and good climate (the weather of Nadi side of Viti Levu tend to be fair while Suva tend to be cloudy/rainy due to the trade wind).
